

Donna Scala blends the key elements of creativity, design and commitment with quality that make the Bistro a unique dining experience.
Donna grew up in the hotel and restaurant business. Her grandfather owned several different types of restaurants and Donna received first-hand experience throughout her childhood. Donna‘s passion for food grew and she headed to the South of France to formally studying her culinary craft. She returned to the Bay Area in 1982 to open a gourmet French and Italian food store in Sausalito.
In 1987, Giovanni and Donna created and named Piatti Ristorante in Yountville, and with Claude Rouas expanded the restaurant to multiple locations. In 1993, after six years at the original Piatti Ristorante, Donna and Giovanni opened their own Bistro Don Giovanni in Napa.
Donna Scala is passionate about her creations, and only uses the freshest, finest raw ingredients from local purveyors as well as vegetables and herbs from the restaurant’s gardens.
